Whatzit?
Readers' Advisory.
That's a librarian phrase if ever there was one. What does it mean? The Massillon Public Library says "We're here to help you find a good book to read." They back it up with an excellent collection of Web tools, book lists, databases such as Novelist and Ohio's chat readers' service Read This Now.
Better yet, Cleveland Heights/University Heights Public Library just calls it "Find a Good Book." Click on that and you're taken to a similar set of set of book lovers' tools and some unique interactive tools from the CHUH R.A.T.S. (that's the Readers Advisory Team Services staff). Users can use the RATS Blog to share reviews or use the Reserve Club to be alerted when favorite author's publish.
The CHUH RATS say "Recommending good books to readers is one of the most important duties of a librarian. We call this readers' advisory."
Whatever. By any name, online or face to face, finding good books is the best part of any library.

Thanks so much for featuring our "Find A Good Book" at Cleve. Hts./Univ. Hts. Public Library. Doing Readers' Advisory is one of the things I like the most about my job and my fellow RATS are a lot of fun. In a world that is thundering willy-nilly down the information highway (often without reliable directions), I glad that the RATS put technology to work in the service of books. We welcome all visitors to our site - read the blog, check out our lists, sign on to the message board - find a good book.
