McArthur hosts spring literary arts festival
Second annual event includes Pulitzer Prize-winning author
McARTHUR - The Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library and the Friends of the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library, Inc. will host the second annual Spring Literary Arts Festival Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23. The festival will be conducted in and around the library and at the Vinton County High School-both located in McArthur.

KnoxNet to cease operations
MOUNT VERNON — An era will come to an end at midnight on June 17 as KnoxNet, one of the oldest community freenets still in existence, will close down its system of free e-mail accounts and dial-up access to the Internet. The service currently hosts about 2,500 free dial-up e-mail accounts, roughly half of which are in active use, according to John Chidester, director of the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County. The library has provided the KnoxNet service since 1997.

Partnerships weighed to maintain library
YOUNGSTOWN — Representatives of the Ohio Historical Society, Youngstown State University and Mahoning Valley Historical Society are discussing partnerships that could lead to the transfer of the archives library from Youngstown Center of Industry and Labor, also know as the Steel Museum.
